The short answer
If you want the biggest possible audience and do not mind phone calls and meet-ups, yad2 is Israel’s largest classifieds site. If you want to sell locally at no cost with no protection on the deal, use Facebook Marketplace. If you would rather have the payment held until the buyer confirms delivery, a courier that collects from your door, and no phone number on display, for a 10% commission, that is exactly what Swapo is built for. Below is what each platform actually offers according to its own terms as of September 2026.
yad2: the largest audience, a classifieds model
yad2 has a dedicated secondhand clothing category inside "Yad2 Market" and is the number one classifieds site in Israel according to Similarweb (August 2026). A basic private listing is free for up to 40 days, you can bump it manually once every 24 hours, and paid highlighting packages exist. Per the site terms, the seller’s phone number is displayed on the ad (alongside on-site chat and an optional virtual number). The sale itself happens between you and the buyer: coordination, payment and hand-over are on you. yad2 does offer an "orange check" service with payment collection, courier and escrow, but it is limited to certain regions (Gush Dan, the Sharon, Jerusalem and Modiin), to selected categories and to items priced ILS 1,000 to 5,000, and it charges the seller a 30% commission. For most clothing it is not relevant.
Facebook Marketplace: free, local, no protection in Israel
Marketplace is available in Israel and listing costs nothing. Important: according to Meta’s help center, shipping and checkout with Purchase Protection work only in the United States. In Israel only "local transactions" exist: you message on Messenger, meet or drop off, and Meta’s Purchase Protection does not cover such deals. Meta’s Seller Protection is currently US-only as well. Seller ratings and reviews exist, but written reviews are available only in the mobile app. In short: a great tool for cheap items handed over in person, less suitable when you want someone holding the money in the middle.
Swapo: payment held, courier from your door, no phone exposure
Swapo is an Israeli marketplace for secondhand fashion (clothes, shoes and accessories). The buyer pays by card through HyPay and the money is held until the buyer confirms the item arrived and matches the listing. A courier collects the parcel from your home and delivers anywhere in Israel; the delivery fee (ILS 25) is paid by the buyer. You never publish a phone number: communication runs through messages on the site and in the app. The commission is 10% of the item price, deducted from the seller payout; the buyer pays the price you set. Sellers verify their phone, and buyers can leave a review after a purchase. Buyers have 14 days from delivery to request a return if the item differs materially from the description or photos.

How to avoid scams (on any platform)
The Israel Internet Association published a guide in May 2026 (updated September 2026) on yad2 and Marketplace scams. The three common patterns: a "buyer" who offers to pay for shipping and sends a forged bank-transfer screenshot; fake courier-company emails demanding that the seller pay for shipping; and phishing links impersonating Israel Post that harvest card details. Rule of thumb: never open a payment link received on WhatsApp, and never approve a Bit "payment request" presented as if it were a payment to you. On a platform that holds the money until delivery is confirmed, most of these tricks simply do not work.
Other options in Israel
There are other Israeli secondhand-fashion marketplaces such as Nemyz and Kiim, and shops that buy clothes from you outright (for example Mihzuron and Chelsy), where you get less but skip the selling. Vinted and Depop, popular in Europe and the US, do not operate in Israel. Facebook buy-and-sell groups and WhatsApp groups work like Marketplace: fast, free, unprotected.

A cheap item you can hand over in the neighbourhood: Facebook Marketplace or a local group. An item that justifies maximum exposure when you are willing to handle calls and meet-ups: yad2.
