Secondhand Fashion in Tel Aviv – Shops, Markets and Online
The short answer
For real vintage and a long dig, the Jaffa flea market. For tidy secondhand shops you can cover in an hour, Bograshov, King George and Gan HaHashmal. For the lowest prices, buy by weight in Florentin. And if you are after a specific item in a specific size rather than browsing shelves, that is precisely what an online search does better than any physical shop. Addresses below, by area, correct as of September 2026.
The Jaffa flea market
The best-known market in Tel Aviv-Yafo. The municipality lists it on Oley Zion Street in Jaffa; it spreads across Yefet, Yehuda Margoza, Amiad and Beit Eshel streets near the Clock Tower. According to the market's own site it runs Sunday to Thursday 09:00-17:00 and Friday until 14:00. This is where real vintage is, but treat it as a search rather than a shopping trip. Come early, and remember that a stall price is usually an opening position.
City centre - Bograshov, King George and Gan HaHashmal
Aderet at Bograshov 53 has been trading since 2004 according to its own site, mixing secondhand, vintage, retro and designer overstock; its sister shop Argaman, at the same address, focuses on secondhand luxury. Flashback at King George 72 is a long-standing vintage address. In Gan HaHashmal, Chelsy at Mikveh Israel 22 is a two-floor secondhand store; its site gives summer hours of Sunday to Thursday 11:00-19:00 and Friday 10:00-16:00, an hour earlier in winter.
Shenkin, Levinsky and Florentin
Lulu Vintage at Shenkin 18, Segunda Vintage at Levinsky 35, and Buy Kilo at Herzl 83 in Florentin, which sells by weight - a model that drops the price per item sharply if you are willing to do the sorting yourself. Over in Jaffa, Loni Vintage sits at Yoezer Ish HaBira 6, inside the flea market area. These addresses come from AT Magazine's November 2025 round-up of vintage and secondhand shops in Tel Aviv.
How many Israelis actually buy secondhand
In a survey run by the Rosh Ink research institute for WIZO, published in August 2024 (a representative sample of 620 respondents aged 16-64), 28% of Israelis had bought a secondhand garment in the past year - up 7 percentage points on the year before. Among 16-to-29-year-olds the figure reaches 40%. At the same time 61% have donated clothes to secondhand shops, so Israelis still donate far more than they buy. The leading barrier, for about half of respondents, is simply that someone else wore the item first.
What to buy in a shop, and what to buy online
A physical shop wins when you do not know what you are looking for, when trying things on matters, and when the hunt is the point. It loses when you do know: Levi's in a 29, a black midi dress, New Balance in a 38. In a shop that is luck; in an online search it is a filter. Availability differs too - a shop rail turns over slowly, while new listings go up every day.
Buying secondhand online, from Tel Aviv and to it
On Swapo you can search by brand, size, category and price, and see real photographs of the actual item. The buyer pays by card and the money is held until they confirm the item arrived and matches the listing; a courier collects from the seller and delivers anywhere in Israel for ILS 25, paid by the buyer. Sellers verify their phone, and buyers have 14 days from delivery to request a return if the item differs materially from the description or the photos. Many sellers on the platform are Tel Avivians, so the style you find on Shenkin turns up there too - just searchable instead of scannable.
A checklist before you go
Check opening hours first: small secondhand shops change hours and sometimes addresses, and at least two long-standing shops in the city have moved street in recent years. Bring cash for the market. Try things on, or at least check seams, zips and underarms before paying, because secondhand shops rarely take returns. And if you come home without the thing you went for, that is exactly the moment to search for it online.
