Secondhand Fashion in Jerusalem – Shops, Fairs and Online
The short answer
Secondhand in Jerusalem clusters in two areas: Talpiot, where the larger shops are, and the city centre, where the small shops and the fairs are. If you have one day, Talpiot for stock, the city centre for digging. And if you want a specific item in a specific size, online beats both. Addresses below, correct as of September 2026.
Talpiot - the bigger shops
Haboydem at Tzeret 15 in Talpiot is a secondhand clothing shop run as a rehabilitation project: it employs people recovering from mental-health crises in transitional work, and is run by the registered nonprofit Shaf Yativ. Reported hours are Sunday to Thursday 09:30-19:00 and Friday from 09:00. In the same area, the HaMezion branch at Pierre Koenig 39; the chain's own site gives Sunday to Thursday 10:00-20:00 and Friday and holiday eves 09:00-14:00. Note that older articles mention further branches of both shops that no longer appear on their official sites.
The city centre - small shops
Bigudit WIZO at Hillel 11 is WIZO's Jerusalem secondhand shop; WIZO's own site gives Sunday to Thursday 10:00-18:00 and Friday and holiday eves 10:00-14:00. Gali at Dorot Rishonim 9, on the city-centre pedestrian mall, works on a flat-price model according to its own site: every item of clothing at ILS 10 apart from coats, and homeware from ILS 2. That is a price level hard to match anywhere in the country, in exchange for doing the sorting yourself.
Fairs and markets
Retroshalim is a weekly fair of antiques, collectibles, retro, vintage and secondhand, vintage clothing included, held on Thursdays in the city centre around Mahane Yehuda. Be aware that sources disagree on the exact address and hours - some place it on Jaffa Street 97 and others on the Agrippas pedestrian mall - so confirm before making a special trip. Separately, the First Station holds a Friday market every week from 10:00 to 15:00, free entry, which according to the venue's own site includes secondhand stalls alongside fashion, accessories and design.
What it actually costs
For a sense of scale: a March 2023 piece in mynet Jerusalem reported prices found in secondhand shops in the city - Diesel men's jeans at ILS 45, women's Levi's at ILS 55, a Michael Kors shirt at ILS 120 and an H&M dress at ILS 30. Those prices are from 2023, so treat them as an order of magnitude rather than a price list. The same article puts the growth of the scene in Jerusalem down to a combination of environmental awareness and cost-of-living pressure.
Buying secondhand online, from Jerusalem and to it
The trouble with donation shops is that the stock is entirely random - there is no point hunting a particular size in one. On Swapo you can search by brand, size, category and price and see photographs of the actual item. The buyer pays by card and the money is held until they confirm it arrived and matches the listing; a courier collects from the seller and delivers anywhere in Israel for ILS 25, paid by the buyer. Sellers verify their phone, and buyers have 14 days from delivery to request a return if the item differs materially from the description or the photos.
A checklist before you go
Check hours in advance, and especially on Fridays - most shops in the city close early before Shabbat and some do not open on Saturday at all. Bring cash for the fairs. In donation shops it pays to come on a fixed day just after the stock is refreshed, so ask the staff when that is. And do not trust an address from an old article: at least two branches that appear in 2023 round-ups no longer show on their chains' official sites.
